December Faves

Happy New Year!!! I can’t believe it’s 2018! I hope that everyone had an amazing holiday season! I certainly did! It was so nice to literally do nothing! Yes, I spent a lot of time with family and experienced the Christmas hustle and bustle, but after that, it was a lot of staying home and doing nothing. Work was quiet (suspiciously quiet!), my husband was home, the house remained clean and I pretty much did whatever I wanted. I did a few intense, long workouts at the gym, sure, but sitting on the couch and doing nothing was glorious. A lifestyle I could certainly get used to! But – here we are, and back to routine, and pumped for a fantastic 2018 (I didn’t even mean for that to rhyme)! So let’s get to it… here are my December Faves!

Maybelline Super Stay Full Coverage Foundation

Wow! Just WOW! I don’t think I’ve ever tried a better full coverage drugstore foundation! Scratch that… I don’t think I’ve ever tried a better full coverage foundation PERIOD! This foundation feels lightweight, evens skin tone, and the overall finish is just lovely! Usually matte, full coverage foundations cake up on me at some point, but this one lasts all day. Usually, after I apply my foundation, I put on a lot of concealer, but not when wearing this stuff. I only put very little concealer under my eyes, but that’s it! A little bit goes a long way, and the best part… the shade I have matches me perfectly!

ColourPop Ultra Metallic Lip in ‘Coquette’

After publishing a post about my 5 Favorite Red Lipsticks for the Holidays, I didn’t even wear any of the shades on my list! Why? Because I discovered Coquette, a rich metallic merlot shade, which was in collaboration with iluvsarahii. This shade was launched just days before Christmas and I was so anxious to get it. I guess ColourPop was anxious for me to have it because I couldn’t believe how fast it shipped! I’ll be honest, I was a little worried about this product because I never loved CP’s metallic lippies, but this one was just amazing! The shade was perfect and lasted all of Christmas Day!

ColourPop Small Fluff Makeup Brush

I’ve fallen into the CP makeup brush trap! I’m officially obsessed. I ordered a few brushes over the past few weeks and have loved them all. The Small Fluff Brush has been my favorite! It’s small, it’s fluffy, it’s soft, and it picks up and distributes product perfectly! I usually go for a very neutral look, and before I apply any color, I take a skin tone shadow and blend it all over the lid. This brush applies it beautifully and diffuses the shade just enough to look natural.

PopBeauty Prismatic Pop Illuminating Powder in ‘Gilded Light’

Just when I think I’ve found my favorite highlighter, another one comes by way and blows my mind. I’ve had my eye on the new PopBeauty Highlighters for awhile, and I was fortunate enough to have the collection sent to me for my review. Gilded Light, a soft champagne gold, is incredibly beautiful and intense. If you want a natural “glow from within” type highlighter, this one is not for you! This one makes you glow to the heavens! This one allows you to be seen from space. This one is one of my favorite highlighters of all time! Have you gotten the point yet?

Love Beauty and Planet Argan Oil & Lavender Conditioner

lbp-lavendar

Alright people, let’s get one thing out of the way. If you’ve been following me for awhile, you know that I’m open about working for Unilever. I’ve been apart of the Hair Team for almost 5 years now, therefore I am part of the team that created Love Beauty and Planet. While I was not the creative force behind the brand, I was certainly involved quite a bit behind the scenes. That being said, I’m not just saying this because I work for them, as you know I’ve talked about many hair products in the past (even competitors) that I love. But… this conditioner is probably one of the best conditioners I’ve ever tried, and certainly a new favorite! The shampoo is wonderful as well, but the conditioner has changed my hair for the better. I use this product when I straighten my hair and I’ve just noticed that it’s softer and much more manageable. This conditioner fights frizz, makes my hair feel super smooth and healthy, and it smells wonderful (I’m a lavender addict!). Love Beauty and Planet has a variety of hair products that fit many hair needs, but if you have thick, frizz prone hair like me, you have to get your hands on the Argan Oil & Lavender products! And seriously, check out this awesome brand. Again, I’m not just saying this because I work for the company, I’m saying this from a consumer perspective. The story behind the brand is quite fascinating and the message is inspiring. I’m not sure what’s next for Love Beauty and Planet, but whatever it is, I’m excited!

Native Coconut & Vanilla Deodorant

Let’s face it… changing your lifestyle is a difficult thing to do. I’ll admit, I’ve never been conscious of the ingredients I use and never really focused on whether or not I was using natural items. I’ve been trying harder lately, but it’s difficult to live your life using certain products and then changing it up completely. I’m sort of working on it, and I figured deodorant was a start. I was never aware of how much crap was in deodorant, and when you read up on it, it’s a little disturbing. I’m not going to get into it now, but I wanted to try and look for something more natural with ingredients I knew and understand. I forget how I came across Native, but this deodorant is Aluminum and Paraben free and contains ingredients like Shea Butter, Beeswax, Vitamin E and more. I love this deodorant so much so that when I went to go grab the photo of the variant I use, I ended up buying two more deodorants! The only thing to be aware of, and perhaps someone could explain this to me, is that natural deodorants do not apply as smoothly. Perhaps because it’s missing some sort of harsh ingredient (ha!) but I’ve tried a few natural deodorants and applying them quickly is not an option. I got a rug burn type feeling under my pits if I did that! Who knew I could screw up using deodorant! Either way, this deo works wonderfully, smells great and I feel like each time I use it, I’m doing something good for myself!

Trader Joe’s Facial Cleansing Oil

tj-facial-cleansing-oil

Here I go talking about Trader Joe’s again! Why do I love this place so damn much? I’ve been trying more of their beauty products lately and I’m never disappointed. Over the years I’ve tried their cleansers and moisturizers and have loved them! I don’t use them anymore simply because I’m constantly trying new things, but they’ve always been favorites. I decided to pick up the Facial Cleansing Oil the other day and I couldn’t be happier! I use the Bioderma makeup remover and have been for many years. While that’s still a favorite product of mine, I am seriously obsessed with the TJ’s oil these days. This makeup remover is made with a unique blend of natural botanicals, including coconut oil, argan oil, and abyssinian oil. I take two pumps of the oil into my hands, massage it all over my face and it practically melts my makeup. It removes even the most stubborn products, like mascara and liquid lipstick, and leaves my face feeling moisturized and not stripped of natural oils. I’m usually one to shy away from oils because it leaves a mess when removing makeup, but this product is think enough where it doesn’t smear everywhere, making every step fool proof!

So there you have it! I know I was sort of rambling towards the end, but when I discover a product that I love, I can’t stop talking about it! I already started my list for my January Faves because I received a few items for Christmas that I’m obsessed with and must talk about! The first few months of the new year are always fun with new discoveries, so I’m excited to see what I find next!
