What’s In My Gym Bag?

I absolutely love my gym bag! I finally feel like I have everything I need to succeed, and while I don’t necessarily use everything I throw in there, it’s still good to have for those “just in case” moments. Back in January, I never thought that I’d be so conscious of what I carry around with me, but I could honestly say that I’m prepared for anything! So let’s jump right in!

First – let’s talk about my gym bag itself! I decided to invest in a really good gym bag, mainly because I had left over gift cards from Christmas and my Birthday, but even if I had spend the dough myself, I could honestly say it would have been money well spent. I own the Vooray Burner Sport 21″ Gym Bag. I don’t think Vooray makes this bag anymore, as I grabbed it off Amazon, but it’s such a high quality, incredible bag! I feel like it has everything! It has a few pockets inside to really help organize myself, it has a vented shoe pocket, a mesh water bottle pocket on the side, and I love the extended zipper track. I could really open it up and find everything quickly and easily! Oh, and one of my favorite features, that I never thought I’d enjoy that much, are the magnetic leather handles. Bottom line, I’m obsessed with this bag! I just checked their website and they launched a few more awesome designs and now I want more!

While I don’t keep them in my bag, I have to mention my sneakers! I have the Under Armor Micro G Limitless 2 Training Shoe and I love it! I was never one to really focus on the quality of a shoe, but since I’ve been strength training, I’ve realized how important it was. I was doing squats in running shoes, and while I managed, a wider, sturdier shoe was what I needed. My training is so much more comfortable since I bought these. Honestly – I think Under Armor Sneakers are my absolute favorite!

It’s strange, I don’t really see a lot of people at my gym wearing them, but something that’s important to me is a good pair of workout gloves. I finally found a lightweight pair that fits perfectly, and it’s the Under Armor Flux Gloves. They provide me with a decent grip while lifting weights and they’re quite comfortable. The only thing I’m still having issues with, is calluses on my hands. They’re certainly not bad at all, but I wish I could find a glove that was a little more comfortable in that respect.

Amazon has been my go-to website for buying most of my fitness gear. If I see something or hear about an item I think could help keep me in check, I log onto Amazon and it’s in my cart within seconds. It’s a dangerous place! Anyways, after looking for a reasonable, decent pair of headphones, I discovered the Phaiser BHS-530 Bluetooth Headphones. I love them! The sound quality is great, it fits comfortably around the back of my head, the battery life seems to last awhile, and they’re sweat proof!

Let’s talk about BCAAs for a second. I don’t go a workout without putting them in my water bottle. While I get sore after my workouts, I could honestly say it could be a lot worse, and I find these BCAAs help a lot. While I go to the gym with a bottle of water, I still keep some in my bag, in case I guzzle it down. I keep the BeautyFit Beauty Recovery BCAAs in my bag, but honestly, thats not my go-to brand anymore. They work well, but I just find the Scivation Xtend BCAA Powder is more effective, and quite delicious. FYI – Blue Raspberry is amazing!

I also go my water bottle from Amazon. I have the CamelBak Podium Big Chill Insulated Water Bottle, and while it does the trick, I do want something larger. I have my eye on the HydroJug, which could hold a whopping 64 ounces! Regardless, I love my CamelBak and it’s gotten me through some pretty grueling workouts!

Most recently, I’ve started doing Abdominal Pull-Downs on the cable machine. I really enjoy doing them and I truly feel I’m engaging my core, but when it comes to working out, I need to be as comfortable as possible if I want to continue my journey successfully. My knees were really taking a beating, so I needed some help. Sure, I could have grabbed a mat from the stretching room at the gym, I didn’t want that large mat in the way of people walking around me. So I bough a Yoga Knee Pad and it’s made all the difference in the world!

Speaking of comfort, my goal is to be able to squat more and more. I enjoy using the Smith Machine, but the damn bar makes the top of my back hurt, and since I’m still a beginner in that respect, I needed some more help. I bought PowerGuidance Barbell Squat Pad, and squatting has been a breeze (well – not a breeze, but you catch my drift!).

Let’s see… what are some other items I’ve bought from Amazon. I hold onto my Sweet Sweat Waist Trimmer, and while I don’t wear it all that much anymore, I still keep it on-hand for when I’m having a cardio only type day. I also have Microfiber Sweat Towels because I swear I sweat more than the average person. I just bought the DMoose Fitness Strong Velcro Ankle Straps for when I want to do kick-backs on the cable machine. I used them this morning for the first time and I love them! My most recent purchase is probably a little silly, but again, I’m all about comfort! I bought some Sports Elastic Finger Sleeves. Go on… laugh it up! I literally only needed two of them for my pinky. When I do those Ab Pull-Downs I was referring to earlier, I use the rope, and as my hand slides down the rope to the hardened handles, my pinky fingers get really stiff and it just really hurts. So – this has helped a bit!

A few other items I’ve picked up, but don’t necessarily use that often is my Dimok Running Belt. I really only use this for when I decide to jog outside, which isn’t that often, but it certainly comes in handy when I need it and is super comfortable! Lastly, I have a set of Fit Simplify Resistance Loop Exercise Bandsv. I think I’ve used them once or twice, but when I have, it’s been effective and I do enjoy them. I honestly need to incorporate them more often.

Now let’s quickly move onto some personal care/hygiene that are good to have on-hand. When I go to the gym, I go in the morning, with no plans of going anywhere else but home. When I watch fitness gurus on YouTube, some of them are like “I’m going to run for 2 hours on the treadmill and then I have to run errands, which is why I carry dry shampoo.” Honey – I need more than dry shampoo if I plan on going anywhere after the gym… which is why I go right home! Regardless, it’s always good to have stuff that could help, just in case… you just never know!

First of all, I keep a travel size pack of Purell Sanitizing Wipes in my bag. Granted – the gym has paper towels and disinfectant everywhere, but you just never know when you’re gonna need a wipe!

Something I’ve recently discovered is The Laundress Sport Fabric Refresher Spray. After a workout, I’ll spray a little bit in my shoes, on my workout gloves, and I’ll just spray a pump into my bag just to keep it fresh. I love this stuff and I feel like I’ve been seeing it everywhere lately!

I also keep a few items in my bag to make me feel purty! I keep a travel size can of Evian Facial Spray. I don’t use it often, but I think I used it after a workout once or twice and it gave me a boost of energy and made my skin feel super fresh! Speaking of fresh, who hates BO? I do, and I’m always paranoid that I smell. Shockingly enough, I don’t carry a body spray with me (I certainly will pack one now!), but I carry around a small Dove Men Deoderant with me. What? a men’s deo? YES! Why? Cause I feel like it’s stronger, more effective, and I’ll be honest, it smells fresh without making me smell like a dude!

This is a recent purchase of mine, but I carry around Body Glide for Her Anti-Chafe Balm. Women AND men know that chafing sucks! And while I don’t have the issue in places you may think (shocking, right?), I have been having some issues with my sports bra rubbing under my arm pit and it’s highly discomforting. I haven’t used this item yet because I have been okay for the past few days, but this is one of those “keep on hand forever” type items.

Okay – so this is totally random, but I have to talk about this little guy who accompanies me to the gym all the time! My little Funko Pocket Game of Thrones/Drogon Pop Keychain. I love him so much!

I have a few other things in my bag, but nothing worth writing home about. I have a lip balm, I have makeup wipes (yes, I wear a tiny bit of makeup to the gym), I have dry shampoo (which I never use), an extra pair of sunglasses, an arm band to hold my iPhone (I only used once.. not very comfortable), I have a jump rope (which I have yet to find the courage to use), and of course, some hair ties, head bands, and an extra set of clothes.

So… do you think I’m prepared? Am I missing anything? I think I’m in pretty good shape! Please – tell me some of your favorite gym bag must-haves!
