Honestly – it doesn’t have to be Christmastime for me to rock a red lip. I seriously wear it all year round, and it doesn’t matter the season… I’ll wear brights on a chilly day in the Fall, and darks on a warm day in the Summer. I have no boundaries. That being said, wearing red lips around the holidays is always so much fun! My red lipstick arsenal is quite intense, and I’m always on the hunt for new reds, but here are my 5 Favorite Red Lipsticks for the Holidays! Be warned – they’re all liquid lipsticks! I can’t remember the last time I wore a regular, old fashioned lipstick all day long!
Honestly, I don’t think I could describe my love for this liquid lipstick. I was a little hesitant to buy it at first because I didn’t think I needed it. I’m so, so, soooooo glad that I decided to throw it in my cart because it’s probably my favorite red of all time! I think what I love most about it is it’s a bright blue/red with a berry tone. I don’t know what it is… there’s just something different about it! It’s long wearing, the formula is intense and pigmented (one swipe and I’m done), and it’s just stunning. Every single time I’ve worn it, I get tons of compliments! This shade seems to be Sold Out on ColourPop’s website right now, but as soon as it’s back, I may have to stock up. Sadly, it’s limited edition, so here’s hoping they bring it back permanently! Oh – and go check out ColourPop’s Holiday Collection and see the stunning packaging! I’m not sure why this photo popped up in Google without the gold and festive polka dots. As if the shade wasn’t gorgeous enough, let’s throw in some amazing packaging design and really make Niki weak in the knees!
I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect metallic red lipstick lipstick for about two years now. I thought that one of my absolute favorite metallic reds was going to be more on the brighter side, but nope… I can’t get enough of this shade! Not only is this burgundy and red pearl lippy absolutely beautiful, but it is one of the most powerful formulas I’ve ever tried! It’s rare that I have to reapply throughout the day, and taking it off is a challenge. Not a bad challenge, but it’s not a “grab a tissue and wipe” kinda thing. I honestly feel so sexy (yuppp… that’s me…) when I wear this lippie. It’s dark, it’s metallic and it’s just gorgeous!
The makeup game has changed a bit now that L.A. Girl is available at Ulta and CVS. Each time I head in to one of these stores, I have to check out the brand and try something new. I spotted their Metal Liquid Lipsticks at CVS and instantly grabbed Lustrous, a rich toned crimson. I cannot believe that I found one of my favorite metallic liquid lipsticks at a drugstore! I don’t know why… I thought I’d have to pay big bucks for the perfect metallic red. Nope… $6.99!!! I can’t believe it! This formula is not quite as intense as the rest on this list in terms of lasting power. It stays on quite well, but it does transfer and I do have to reapply after eating. That’s not a bad thing at all, as long as it sits on my lips comfortably. This item contains Vitamin E and Argan Oil, so that certainly helps with hydration and comfortable wear.
I pretty much have to purchase any red lipstick that Jeffree Star launches. I’ve said it many times before, but I absolutely love his liquid lipstick formula! The product is great, the applicator is amazing, and I’m never disappointed. This shade was launched recently with the Star Family Collection and it’s a beautiful brick red. I honestly thought it was going to be a little darker than it appears to be, but it’s stunning nonetheless. I feel like this shade is probably the most wearable on this list. Some may not be comfortable with metallics, and perhaps in their place of work, it’s not a great choice. Or maybe some are just not great when it comes to working with brighter lipsticks. I feel like this shade has a happy medium and anyone, anywhere could pull it off!
Okay – so yeah – top 5 was a bit of a lie. But here me out. These shades are quite similar and I do like one more than the other, but I wanted to mention both. I thought that my hunt for the perfect metallic red lipstick would come to an end when I found one of these two products, but we’re not quite there yet. I’m still looking for something in the middle, maybe a little darker than these shades, but lighter than ‘Vino Noir’, which I mentioned previously. Nonetheless, both these shades are quite gorgeous! I think I like Maneater a little better in terms of the shade, as I feel like it’s a bit more vibrant. however, I still feel like that whatever metallic red I find pulls a little bit of pink. This one is certainly not as prominent as others, but I still feel that it’s slightly pinkish. I’ll be honest – I was a little disappointed with Poinsettia… I mean, the shade is simply gorgeous and I do love everything about it, I just thought it was going to be a bit more vibrant, almost like Maneater, but more red. Am I making sense at all? Again – amazing shade and the packaging is stunning, but not what I expected. However, in terms of formula, I think I like Poinsettia better. Smashbox metallics are amazing, but they are a tad heavier than JSC. When I first wore it, I practically forgot I had it on. Again – both shades are absolutely amazing, similar, yet very different in their own special way.
