So I’ve been obsessed with Jeffree Star Cosmetics lately! I don’t know why, but I held off trying the Velour Liquid Lipsticks for so long, for no particular reason, I just never got around to trying them. Once I got my hands on them, the obsession began because he has some of the best liquid lippies I’ve every tried! I’ll admit, when I first saw the Androgyny Palette, I didn’t want it. I thought it was lovely, but I didn’t think I would utilize the shades because some of them are so different. However, after seeing several reviews and swatches on IG, I decided to take the plunge and I’m so freakin’ glad I did!
The Jeffree Star Androgyny Palette consists of 10 unique, beautiful shades. While watching his YouTube channel, he says that this is his version of a “neutral” palette. At first I figured only three of the shades would be my “neutral”, but with a little bit of creativity, you can really have some fun! These 10 shades range from super mattes to metallics and they are all extremely gorgeous and pigmented. They sit in a beautifully designed palette with a huge, beautiful mirror, and the pans are huge! I knew they were going to be big, but damn!
The shades are so stunning and are some of the softest shadows I’ve ever felt! The metallics were like velvet on my fingers when I first swatched them… I was completely blown away. The only shade that seemed to give me a little bit of touch was Swallow, the last, dark blue shade in the palette. Once you blend it, you’re fine, but it swatched a little chalky. Not sure why it’s so different from the rest of the colors.
Right off the bat, I knew I was going to love Frosting, Safe Word, Dominatrix, and Androgyny, as those shades are right up my alley. All of the other shades are simply gorgeous, and I could have a lot of fun with them, but the shade I’m most impressed with has to be Military. First of all, I don’t own a shade like this, and if I did at some point in the past, I certainly never wore it! It’s a color I never thought that I would wear, but I seriously cannot put it down! I’m obsessed with using Frosting on the lid, Safe Word in the crease, and Dominatrix to add some depth. All I do is pop some Military in there and I have a gorgeous look that I never though I could pull off! It’s such a fun shade! I have yet to try some of the shades in a look, but I certainly plan on doing so! This is the type of palette that inspires you to break out of your comfort zone.
Oh – and one last thing. I think we need to start a petition to make Safe Word a full size contour shade! I don’t know if Jeffree has plans for contour shades, but this needs to happen. Jeffree has mentioned in his Snaps and YT vids that he uses this to sculpt his face, so I decided to give it a try and WOW! As someone with light skin, this is so perfect! A range of shades like this to compliment all skin tones would be epic!
Bottom line – I’m so damn obsessed with this palette and I cannot wait to have more fun with it in the coming weeks!
