I really can’t believe how difficult it was to pick out this month’s faves! I’ve discovered a lot of new products this months and it was hard to narrow it down. I can’t remember the last time I’ve had this predicament! It’s a great problem to have, so I’m really excited to share these faves with you today!
A lot of this month’s faves is going to circle back to Makeup Geek somehow, so be warned! Makeup Geek launched a bunch of new highlighters recently, and I was super excited. I practically stalked Instagram and SnapChat for the launch date and swatches, so as soon as they were released, I grabbed a few. My favorite, beyond favorite one from the collection is LIT. I honestly don’t know how to describe it! I reviewed these highlighters a few weeks ago, so if you read the review, you know how much I love the formula of the powder and how buildable the product is. It’s wonderful. But the shade… it’s unlike any highlighter I’ve owned. It’s a champagne, peachy/pink duochrome that just looks so amazing! Am I even saying that right? I have no idea! This shade literally leaves me speechless!
Nothing like rediscovering a product! I was obsessed with MAC’s Soft Ochre Paint Pot a few years ago, but overtime, sort of forgot about it because I started trying new things. Nothing has compared to my love for Soft Ochre. The shade matches my skin tone, so it covers up any discoloration on my eyelids, and it makes my eyeshadows blend beautifully and last all day long. I don’t think I’ll ever go back to anything else!
So I’ll be honest… I wasn’t expecting to buy anything from the ColourPop x Hello Kitty Collection. The products were beautiful, but I tried to control myself. That only worked to an extent. After seeing many swatches on IG and always being on the lookout for a red metallic lip, I decided that I needed to try Surprise. Truthfully, I am not a fan of CP’s metallic lippies. I bought two from their very first launch and was very disappointed, but something told me I needed to give this a try. Surprise is a cool-toned ruby red, and while it’s not the all-in-one metallic I was looking for, I figured it would be lovely as a topper, and I was right! It’s beautiful! I put it over my favorite deep red and it creates the perfect, holiday lip that I’ve been searching for for months! I wouldn’t wear it alone because it leans more pink, but pairing it together just makes me so happy!
I can’t remember where I heard about this product, but my goodness, it’s life changing if you’re obsessed with liquid lipsticks like I am! Usually, I take makeup remover or a makeup wipe if I need to take of my liquid lipstick, and while it works, I always make a mess. This product is made for waterproof makeup, and works wonders on liquid lipsticks! I hate swatching lipsticks because my lips get raw! I mean… whose doesn’t? I put a little bit of this lotion on a q-tip, and I’m able to wipe away all the lipstick precisely and quickly without making a mess. And somehow, it keeps my lips feeling healthy and hydrated. I swear, this is a magic potion and I’m obsessed! I keep it with me in my makeup bag, just in case I make any mistakes if I need to reapply throughout the day!
I was walking around NYC on a warm day and my makeup was melting. It was staying in place because I always use good setting sprays, but I needed a touch-up. I ran into Ricky’s and saw this product sitting on the shelves. I’ve heard a lot about Skindinavia in the past, but I never tried it, as I was always set in my ways when it came to setting sprays. I am so glad I gave it a shot because it’s probably the best setting spray I’ve ever tried! I don’t have time to sit around and wait for spray to dry, so whether I spray one pump or five, this spray dries really quickly. It makes my makeup look and feel amazing all day and it’s just amazing. If you are a makeup addict, I highly suggest you invest in this cult classic!
I have been obsessed with Makeup Geek lately. Marlena was one of my inspirations when starting Hello Miss Niki, but out of no where, I just stopped with watching makeup videos on YouTube all together. I don’t know why, but I started again and I feel so much more in-tune with the beauty community, and I’m learning new things. Marlena is amazing! I literally hang onto her every work and always take her recommendations and techniques into consideration. While watching her videos, I noticed that she likes to take a flat top brush to contour. Me, not being a pro at contouring, I’m always looking for new and easier ways to do it, whether it be a skill or tool. So when I saw her take powder on a flat top brush and apply that way, I knew I had to try it. I reached for the closest flat top brush I had, which was the Wet n’Wild Flat Top Brush and I’ve been using it with my makeup routine every since. I feel like using this brush I have so much more control over how I contour. The brush itself is soft and blends product beautifully, and at that price point, how can I say no? I will probably buy more of these brushes because it’s so great for everything!
While watching Marlena’s Current Obsessions (see… I told you Makeup Geek was going to tie into this post a few times!), she mentioned the Triderma Facial Redness Repair. Because my skin is always red, I really wanted to try this. I got mine off Amazon for under $15 and it’s been amazing! This soothing cream is so unbelievably hydrated and I have noticed a difference in my skin tone. Has it helped my redness completely? No… my cheeks are still red, just not as bad. However, I put some of this under my moisturizer in the morning and at night and it’s amazing. You can wear it alone, but I choose to make it work with other products and it’s just great. Someone at work recently asked me for a skin care product recommendation, and I told her to try this without hesitation!
What an awesome months for favorites right? Trust me when I say that I had lots more, but these were the top contenders! December’s faves is going to be great because I always discover new products around the holidays! So stay tuned!
