So apparently, the new makeup trend is to look like a unicorn. And I’ll be honest with you… I’m totally okay with that! I’m loving the launches of unique highlighters that not only give you a glow, but make you look like an edgy mermaid. After much consideration and going back and forth with myself, I decided that I needed to get my hands on the Anastasia Beverly Hills Moon Child Glow Kit!
I love the Anastasia Glow Kits! I reviewed ‘That Glow’ a few months ago and I’m obsessed with it. ‘That Glow’ is more traditional when it comes to highlighters, so I was really curious to try Moon Child due to it’s extremely unique shades! But first – let’s take a moment to acknowledge the packaging! It’s holographic and beautiful! I’m a packaging junkie and this palette has to have the most beautiful packaging I’ve ever seen. One of the many reasons for purchasing the item. But the beauty truly lays inside.
No photo or video can do this highlighter justice! The powders are absolutely stunning and I don’t own anything quite like it! I keep seeing these highlighters that are lavender and I sit back and say it’s not for me. But you won’t know for sure until you try it! I didn’t think I would like anything purple or green on my skin, but let me tell you, if you’re into trying new things with makeup, a celestial look is the way to go! I love taking several of the shades and laying them together. I haven’t quite mastered the technique of layering them in a sense where you can see every color, but the beautiful Nikki French is able to show us how it’s done. Also – the incredibly talented Miss Jazmina really takes it to the next level to give us a true magical unicorn look. Check out both videos below!
My goal is to really learn how to glam it up with these highlighters, but for now, I just take my Morphe M438 Pointed Contour Brush and go to town with what I’ve got! Again – no photo or video can do these highlighters justice (except Miss Jazmina’s video), but here are some swatches!
From Bottom to Top
Blue Ice – Diamond white with an icy blue reflect
Star – A moonstone fusion of mint, platinum and silver reflect
Purple Horseshoe – A glittering lavender with an arctic blue reflect
Pink Heart – Pearl white with a pink opal reflect
Lucky Clover – A shamrock-infused gold with canary yellow diamond reflect
Blue Moon – Frozen blue with a silver reflect
Rocking a subtle mixture of shades!
I thought that Blue Ice was going to be my favorite, and while it’s certainly one of them, I have to say that Pink Heart, Lucky Clover, and Star are up there! I’m so obsessed with this palette and so thrilled that I decided to get it! If you want to look like a unicorn from a celestial magical world, then you must try these highlighters! You can really glam it up, or tone it down, but either way, your highlight will be on point!
And if you missed my swatches and first impressions on SnapChat, here it is!
