I first heard about Pretty Powerful, by Bobbi Brown, when she was a guest on my favorite morning radio show, the Elvis Duran Show. After talking about this book for several weeks after the broadcast, my sister bought me the book for Christmas and I just love it!
Although I do not own many products from Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, I have always admired her as a person. Her honest outlook on beauty has always been inspirational and this book shows that more than any of her other books in the past. This book is all about beauty and how you don't need makeup to feel beautiful. She states that makeup helps you feel confident and may enhance your beauty, but feeling empowered is what is really important.
This book contains 287 pages of beautiful photographs and moving stories from women of all ages, ethnicities and lifestyles. Furthermore, Bobbi Brown gives tons of advice to women to help them with their makeup application, as well as tips and tricks to accomplish the right look that enhances your best features while still looking natural. I just love what she said on the Elvis Duran Show and that is that “less is more”. I love makeup, I do makeup and my makeup may not always look natural, but as I said in my Definition of Beauty post for the Come Together Club, you do not need makeup to be beautiful. Bobbi Brown, makeup artist and founder of a cosmetics giant, has the same outlook and I admire her for her inspiring words and stories.
This book is fantastic and if you could get your hands on it, do so. The photos alone make it worth it!
Have you read Pretty Powerful?
Have you ready any other books by Bobbi Brown?
I heard Bobbi Brown on the radio this morning and she had some awesome tips - so I would say this book is a must! Thanks for sharing - I didn't know she was on promoting a book - I figured she was just a guest - I guess I got in the car after they introduced her.
