Dior Grand Bal Carnet de Maquillage Review

When my sister called me and said she was given the Dior Grand Bal Carnet de Maquillage Palette, I almost fell off my chair. As a makeup artist and blogger, it is my dream to own several items from Dior. Being the amazing sister that she is and knowing how much I wanted to try Dior makeup, she let me borrow the palette to write up a full review. Can you blame her for keeping it? If I were her, my fingers would be clutched around that palette for dear life! 

It is no surprise that this limited edition palette symbolizes the passion for elegance that Christian Dior inspires. The packaging design, a gold clutch that holds two incredibly beautiful eye shadows and two shining lip glosses is nothing more than classy and chic. Furthermore, the deep black eyeliner pencil is also used as a closure for the palette, which adds a perfect touch.

 

The two metallic eyeshadows included in this palette are simply gorgeous. I have come across my fair share of silvers and golds, but these two shades top them all! The shadows are incredibly smooth and extremely pigmented.

Gold Eyeshadow – champagne/golden bronze shade

Silver Eyeshadow – white/silver shade
 

The lip glosses, covered by a golden flap, are simply gorgeous as well and the best part…they’re not sticky at all! Dior was smart to include two lip shades that would look perfect on any skin tone. The one shade is sheer, which obviously works for anyone, but it has a beautiful, slight golden shimmer, which adds the right touch. The other gloss is neutral pink shade that would of course, balance out the look you create with the two metallic shadows. 

 

I am always on a quest for black eyeliners. This Dior liner has to be one of the best. It’s velvet like texture and long-wearing color may not be the darkest black I have ever tired, but it certainly tops many. What I love is that it is creamy enough to smudge in order to create that smoky dark look that I always love.

 

This palette may not be completely versatile, as you may not be able to create a variety of everyday looks with two metallic shadows and an eye pencil; but it is simply perfect to wear for occasions. Accomplishing a glamorous and elegant look is what this palette was made to do!
