The NEW Sigma Beauty Expert Brow Design Kit Review

I cannot begin to describe my excitement when I saw the announcement for this new product.  I am a Sigma fanatic and any palette or new brush they release, I make sure to purchase the day it is launched.  It’s so funny when I sit at the computer all morning and keep refreshing the website until I am able to order it.  I know, I am crazy, but I highly doubt I am the only one that revolves my whole morning around a new Sigma product release!

The Sigma Beauty Expert - Brow Design Kit contains every tool needed to shape and groom the most beautiful and defined brows. I love my eyebrows and I make sure that creating the perfect brows is a part of my beauty routine!  Some may feel that $69.00 is a bit steep for this product, but I feel that you really get a lot, especially if you are a professional artist who needs the right tools for your clients.  It’s a 15-piece set that includes everything you need for perfect eyebrows!

I love the packaging design for this product.  The illustration on the front of the kit is absolutely gorgeous, as I am never disappointed with Sigma's designs.  Like their other palettes, the kit comes in a cardboard cover that is removed to have access to the actual palette. The packaging seems durable and decent for travel, especially having that cardboard protecting the kit to ensure that the palette will not open during the transportation of your makeup case.
Here is a breakdown of everything from this incredible kit:
Brow Design Booklet

I love that Sigma includes these booklets or brochures with their products.  It’s nice to have a little background on your purchases.  The best part about this packet is that they give you a little insight about each item and how to achieve fab brows!  This booklet describes when and how to use each tool and how to determine your brow shape.
Brow Scissors

I will admit, I do not groom my own eyebrows.  I go get them waxed, as I don't have the patience or skill to groom them myself.  I have extremely thick brows and have to go get them waxed to avoid looking like Groucho Marx. Because I do not do my own brow grooming, I will probably not be using these scissors.  It is pretty cool to have in this collection since it is a full brow kit, but its not something that I will be needing.
Tweezers

These tweezers aren’t all that bad.  I have a few sets of tweezers at home and since I don’t groom my own brows, I use them sparingly between the brows to avoid a disastrous unibrow.  I didn’t use these tweezers to it’s full potential, but I did grab a few hairs from the middle and felt they grabbed pretty well.  They probably aren’t my favorite set of tweezers, but still good enough for what I use them for.
Brow Design Stencils

I have never used brow stencils before because I never really had the need to; and I honestly don’t know anyone who has. I am sure that these stencils are useful for those who have very thin brows; or to beginners who need the extra guidance, but I have really no use for them.  I am certainly not saying that they aren’t useful because I do think its great to include them in the kit!
Brow Highlighting Pencil

This is pretty darn cool since I love the highlight under my brows.  I usually use a powder to highlight, but the pencil is pretty good and more precise depending on the look you are going for.  This dual ended pencil has a soft pink side that provides a matte finish and a golden side that gives your arch a beautiful shimmer.  I don’t love the matte side of the pencil since I usually like shimmer just under the brow. Furthermore, I am not too fond of the matte color.

Brow Pencil

I am quite picky when it comes to my eyebrow pencils, as I have used the MAC one in Lingering for YEARS (that’s until I discovered brow powder).  This is another dual ended pencil with a medium and dark shade on each side and it’s a must have in this kit.  At first I wasn't sure I loved the quality of the pencil, but after a few uses, I began to like it.  I suppose with any new pencil, it can be a bit dry and chalky at first, and this one I think gets better after a few uses.  I used the dark side of the pencil and really liked it!

Sharpener

You can never have too many sharpeners!  There is honestly not much to say about this, as a sharpener is a sharpener to me.  This one is large enough to sharpen the brow and highlighting pencils and you can definitely use it for the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils, Makeup Forever Shadow sticks and more!
Brow Design Gel

Brow gel is a must for me.  Since I have thick eyebrows I suppose I get the brow equivalent of a cow lick….attractive I know.  I will never forget the morning I started the eight grade, I woke up to crazy curled brow and no gel to help me!  A nightmare for a teenager!  Ever since then, brow gel is a must, must, MUST!  I love that this is another dual ended product, with a clear gel on one side and tinted gel on the other.  I have one issue with this product.  I feel like the brush for the tinted gel should be a bit smaller.  I think it may be too long of a wand, which makes it a bit awkward to apply the product without getting it all over the brow.  I still like it, but once I apply it, I have to take a clean brow want to clean it up and brush it down a bit more.

Sigma Beauty Dual Ended E75: Angled Brow Brush & E80: Wand

I never got these brushes when they first came out so I was so excited to see that I got both in this kit!  I am very happy with these brushes!  I know that the angled brow brush is similar to any other brow brush, but I felt a difference with this one.  I felt very in control when using this brush and it helps to create a precise brow with its angled and firm edge.  I was a little iffy about it at first since I am used to using the Real Techniques Eyebrow Brush which is a lot larger and has thicker bristles, but I really felt this one makes my brows look a bit cleaner.

The Wand is probably like any other wand I have tried.  I have a few in my collection and didn’t see a difference in quality with this one.  Not saying I don’t like it, I really do, but it wasn’t anything spectacular. Because of my thick brows, I always get makeup stuck in the hairs, so this product is perfect to comb out my brows and tame it’s shape.  Furthermore, it is perfect for combing through eyelashes.  I don’t like using the same brush for my brows and lashes, so I ended up buying the E80 separately for that purpose.

Brow Powders

Ahhh…yes…saving the best for last!  I love the range of shades this kit provides, which makes it perfect for traveling artists!  These powders are very smooth and do not have any fallout. Some brow powders can be a bit cakey, but I have no complaints about these!  This kit contains 5 versatile brow powders in the shades Bella, Chloé, Scarlett, Natasha & Valentina.  If you look in the booklet, you will notice that the same model is wearing all of the brow colors.  I think that if you don’t have a heavy brow like I do, you can really get away with mixing it up a bit. I wear Natasha and the color is just perfect for me.  The only downside is not necessarily for me, but redheads.  I was watching a video from Vintage or Tacky and she said it is very difficult to find a shade that matches her red brows.  The only color close to a red shade would probably be Chloé.  Other than that, if you have really red hair, you may not be in luck with this kit.

So there you have it.  My new must have!  A very long review, but you know what, I just love this kit and had to share it with you all!  If you are interested in purchasing this product, please visit Sigma Beauty and get yours today.  Luckily, this is apart of the permanent collection, so you can pick it up at anytime.  A little costumer suggestion to Sigma…sell the brow powders separately for refills.  I know that Natasha is going to be gone someday, and I would love to be able to replace it…MISS NIKI HAS SPOKEN!!!

If so, what do you think? If not, do you want to?

EcoGenics Skin Care Products Review

I have mentioned before that I am somewhat inconsistent with my skin care routine.  I enjoy changing it up quite often, in hopes of finding something that may work a little better.  SFR Beauty sent me some more products to try out and once again, I am extremely pleased.  SFR Beauty, an online beauty company operating out of San Francisco, California that sells a range of products from skin care to body and hair products internationally.  I did two guest reviews for them in the past, but this time I got to share what I think about these products on my blog.  Please check out my guest reviews "Indulge in Hawaiian Beauty Products" and "Forever Young With the Secret of the Himalayan Sugar Scrub" on the SFR Beauty Blog and “MoonEssence Skin Care Products Review” on Hello Miss Niki.

SFR Beauty never fails in sending me some pretty amazing products.  This time I had the pleasure of trying out a few products from EcoGenics Skin Care

This is a very gentle 2-in-1 cleanser and toner that feels wonderful on my skin.  This product contains cucumber, witch hazel, blue malva, aloe and lavender that soothes and keeps the skin's natural moisture.  What I love most about this product, is that the scent has a very subtle lavender aroma and makes my skin feel calm and refreshed.  I use this product in the morning and it instantly makes my skin feel alive after a long nights sleep.

I have NEVER tried a skin serum before and I have to say, I want to stick with it!  A skin serum gives you those extra nutrients that go deep into the layers of the skin that regular moisturizer may not be able to reach.  Once I cleanse my face and pat my skin dry, I put this product this all over and let it dry before applying moisturizer. This product contains pycnogenol, echinacea, grapefruit extract, green tea and much more. It has a very cooling sensation and makes my skin feel smooth and firm as it dries.  I feel that this serum makes my skin appear more toned and reduces blemishes.  Furthermore, I notice my skin's texture has improved and feels extremely fresh.

After using the skin serum, I follow up with this moisturizer, and it is fantastic! This lightweight formula is perfect to top off my morning routine.  With avocado oils and Vitamins A, D and E, this product is non-greasy and has a very subtle scent.  The only downside to this product is I like my moisturizers to have SPF and this one does not.  BUT, as long as I use a primer or foundation with and SPF, I will be just fine.  Either way...I LOVE IT!!!

I have never tried anything like this before.  When I first opened the package and saw this, I honestly had no idea what it was!  When I opened it, it smelled extremely fresh and sort of reminded me of a spa...and who wouldn't love that?? I swear if I had all the money in the world I would go to a spa everyday ::le sigh:: anyways (I digress), this stuff is pretty cool!  It smells like eucalyptus to me and but contains dried lavender, sage, peppermint, spearmint leaves and chamomile flowers.

When you open the jar, it contains a tiny scooper.  The directions say to take some boiled water and put it in a heatproof glass bowl (I boiled water in a teapot and then put it in a sauce pot).

Once the water is boiled, let it sit for 5 minutes before adding 3 scoops of the herbal facial bath.  Take a towel, put it over your head and hover over the bowl or pot 8-12 inches away from your face.  Let the steam and aroma soothe your face for about 8 minutes (I did 10).

About to get my face bath!!!

I felt like I was in a steam shower or sauna!  It was so cool and made my face feel soooo good!!!  I really did enjoy this and can't wait to do this again within a night of pampering.

Once again, I really enjoyed trying out these products and it made me skin feel fabulous!  The prices for these products are a bit steep and the products I would recommend most is the skin serum and/or the herbal facial bath.  I have to say I love these equally as the skin serum is very unique and the facial bath is just so much fun! If you are interested in purchasing EcoGenics products, please check out SFR Beauty's Online Catalog.

If not, would you like to?  What do you use for your skin care routine?

China Glaze On Safari Fall 2012 Collection Swatches & Review

I am such a fan of the Fall!  I love everything from the cool, crisp air, wearing jeans and a comfortable sweatshirt, UGGS and all the dark warm colors...especially the ones I can use on my nails!  Although I have mentioned that I am certainly not one to follow the rules of colors for the seasons, I will admit that this summer I have avoided darker shades on my nails and waiting for Autum to roll around.  The China Glaze On Safari Fall 2012 Collection got me so excited because it consists of perfect colors to wear in the Fall!  I am so excited to blog for Autumn and Winter because I just love the makeup and fashion trends so much more!  I had to get my hands on this collection to share with you all and I hope you enjoy!!

Kalahari Kiss

I was (and still am) a bit mixed about this color.  I was intrigued at first because it was a buttery shade and I have been looking for the perfect yellow for awhile now.  Although described in some cases as a light sand brown, I have to say, that once applied, this color looked a bit like a mustard yellow and for someone who loathes mustard, I wasn't jumping for joy.  No one ever comments on my nail color, but this time they did saying that the color was very "interesting".  Not sure if they were referring to it as a good thing or bad thing, but I suppose interesting sums it up.  Maybe I can get away with it more in the Fall, but I am not 100% sure I love this color.

Elephant Walk

I think this color is very pretty.  This cool gray shade, with subtle shimmer is a great color to wear year round.  I never really wore light gray colors before  and have not tried this one yet, but after swatching it, I concluded that it is a very unique color and I look forward to trying it out.

Pray Tell

This is probably my favorite shade of the collection!  When Fall/Winter comes around I am obsessed with wearing dark, vampy shades on my nails!  This very deep red shade is right up my alley!  I have not tried this one yet, but I fell in love with it after I swatched it.  I am saving this one for the Fall and will probably make it my "go to" color for the season.

Man Hunt

Now this is a shade I do not have in my collection.  This bright cobalt blue is very bold and certainly unique. Probably not something I would wear often, but to spice it up a bit, I suppose I would give it a shot.  I honestly don't have much to say about this one, except that its very different from what I am used to.

Desert Sun

This one speaks FALL!!  It's burnt orange color reminds me of Thanksgiving and it honestly makes me smile.  Everytime I think about that time of year, I get all giddy and this color brings that time of the year to life!  It is perfect to wear in October or November and I will more than likely wear it Thanksgiving Day!

Exotic Encounters

I have already tried this color because I felt I can get away with it for the summer.  Its a very pretty creamy green shade with blue undertones.  I have mentioned that I am into teal shades this season, so I am very excited about this one because it is extremely versatile.

Jungle Queen

I never feel like I can't get away with purple shades on my nails, but I think I can confidently give this one a shot and not feel self conscious about it.  This is a very dusty viotet shade with alot of shimmer.  I am very particiular about shimmery nail polish, as I like cream bases better, but this one is very pretty and I look forward to trying this one.

Adventure Red-y

I am a RED POLISH FREAK!!! I love this color!  This is a very classic and creamy vivid red shade that is PERFECT for the holiday season! If you think I love Fall, wait until you see my enthusiasm around the holidays!  Even though this is a Fall collection, this color is perfect to wear during Christmas time and I cannot wait!!!

Purr-fect Plum

I mentioned I can't get away with purple colors, but plum colors are ones that I enjoy!  This color is a dark creamy plum shade and I may even classify it as burgundy.  This is a color that I would have no trouble wearing all year round!  I haven't tried it yet, but I plan on doing so soon!

Call of the Wild

I have tried so many brown nail polishes and I cannot seem to find one that I like.  This one is amazing!  I kept trying ones with shimmer and I think that was my problem.  This is a dark brownish red shade that reminds me of chocolate covered cherries...::le sigh:: a favorite of mine!  This is another color that I am saving for October/November and I am so excited because it emulates the season perfectly.

I'm Not a Lion

I don't have alot of glitter nail polishes so I was happy to see a few glitter selections in this collection.  This is a multi-colored glitter thats a tad halographic.  While I wouldn't wear this one on every nail, I would definately use it as a top coat for maybe my ring finger over a red shade for...once again...THE HOLIDAYS!!! If you see the swatch below, I topped this glitter polish with Adventure Red-y and it looks gorgeous! Perfect for Christmas time!!!

I Herd That

At first I thought that this glitter was similar to Electrify of the Hunger Games Collection, but its clearly very different!  This is a copper/orange glitter and its very different.  Again, not a shade I would wear on every nail, but putting it over another color is just stunning!  Below I put it over Kalahari Kiss in the first picture and Pray Tell in the second one.  I honestly didn't like the polish polish I used as a base, but with the right color, I think it would look stunning!

Needless to say, I love this collection!  It is so pretty and incoporates very different colors for the fall; as its nice to wear brighter shades during the season that aren't too overpowering.  I cannot wait for Autumn so I can really rock these colors!  These photos make the colors look a bit off, so for more accuracy, please visit the China Glaze website for more information.

Because I am extremely grateful to all of my followers and appreciate each and everyone of you, I am going to giveaway this entire collection to one lucky winner as part of my 400th Blog Follower Giveaway!!! Keep a look out for the official giveaway post that I will be posting this week!!!
