All About My First Avon Demonstration

Hello my loves!  I usually don't post on Sundays, but I really wanted to write up a quick post about my 1st Avon demonstration from this past Wednesday.  A few months ago, when I started up my blog and really took my makeup obsession to the next level, my mother-in-law/Avon representative shared Hello Miss Niki on her Facebook page.  Her Avon Manager approached her and asked her if I would be willing to do a demonstration for the other Avon reps, as some of them sell the products, but may not be familiar with basic makeup application.  I immediately said yes and I'm so happy I did because I am confident when I say it was a success!

On March 21st, I did a presentation in front of about 20 lovely ladies about the basics of makeup.  I will admit...I was a nervous wreck, but once I started I was fine.  I did a makeover on the beautiful Lourdes (another Avon representative).  Initially, I was going to do a brown smokey eye, but in celebration of Springtime, I decided to do a green smokey eye instead (me and my smokey eyes LOL).  With or without makeup, Lourdes is a gorgeous woman, but I was so thrilled when the other reps watching me were impressed with my demonstration and skills as I was applying her makeup! According to my sister-in-law, I sounded like a PRO, which is the best compliment I can receive considering I have no prior cosmetology experience or education! I can honesty say, that I believe these ladies walked away with some basic knowledge of makeup and I am thrilled to say that I was the one who showed them!  Below are some photos from the event!

ENJOY!

The Victim: Lovely Lourdes

Yes..thats right...I had diagrams LOL

Makeover Complete

This week, I will posting my first tutorial! I AM SO EXCITED!!! I am going to do a two part vlog series. The first vlog will be all about my foundation routine (as each person does it differently) and the second vlog will be all about the green smokey eye I did on Lourdes using the Avon Fresh Cut Greens Eyeshadow Quad.  So STAY TUNED!!! I will be posting them this week!

I hope you are all enjoying your weekend :)

My MakeUp Storage: What the Heck Do I Do With All This Stuff!!!

Obviously, becoming a beauty blogger, I have goals of becoming BIG!  I want thousands of views on my videos and I want tons of comments on my blog and followers on Twitter.  This, however, takes a lot of time and patience.  But when I do achieve my goal, I figured it would be fun to look back on what I once was, what I once had and how I first started out.  So in this blog, I am going to show you my makeup storage.  One day, I want a more elaborate set up!  I want to have a set up like Miss Chievous, or Marlena from MakeUp Geek or Andrea from MakeUp Geek.  Its getting to that point, and since I recorded the video below, I officially have no more room and needed to add a box for my palettes.  I NEED A NEW SET UP PRONTO!!!!  I will show you a picture in my next blog on how I recorded my first tutorial and what my set up looked like...it's interesting to say the least.  For now, just watch the video and one day, when I have all I want, I will do another one and we can all say "remember when".

ENJOY!!!

This is what I want.

All I need is a nice comfy, but funky chair, a cool mirror, some great lighting and I am good to go!  Can anyone recommend some lighting!  I want inexpensive with easy installation!

Stay tuned lovies!!!  I'm hoping to have a new set up soon, so I'll be recording another one.  With all the love and support I am getting from my followers, I'm so excited to see where I am in a year from now!! Thank you everyone!!!

My First Make-Up Haul

Well...this is certainly not my FIRST make-up haul, but its the first one that I decided to make a video about!  Friday was payday, and because I am so weak, after work I ran to Ulta and Harmon Face Values and decided to splurge on some new stuff (nothing new there)!  I figured since I enjoy watching other beauty blogger's hauls, I would make one of my own!!!

ENJOY!!!

So there you have it! All the stuff I spent my hard earned money on :)

My Make-Up Brush Collection: Favorite Brand and MUST HAVES!!!

Something I have learned throughout my make-up ventures is that brushes really do make a difference!  I am so excited today because I made another video!!  Today I am going to share with you my make-up brush collection!  This collection has really built up recently and I couldn't be happier with what I have.  You will see that my FAVORITE make-up brushes of all are from Sigma Beauty.  They sell such a variety of amazing natural and synthetic brushes at reasonable prices!  From the moment you hold one in your hand, you can feel the quality.  They are really great!  I would have to say 90% of the brushes in this video are from Sigma.  I have a MAC, Makeup Geek and Sonia Kashuk one here and there, but Sigma has to be my go-to brand!

Enjoy!!!

So there you have it!  You got to see my collection AND my dog :)

If you are just getting into make-up, I honestly wouldn't go out and spend so much money on brushes!  I started out with brushes from e.l.f. Cosmetics and they worked just fine.  I will still stand by e.l.f. brushes, as they are decent quality and VERY affordable!  These brushes helped me practice and helped me build that talent that I have today.  I would definitely recommend these brushes to anyone.  I happened to outgrow them, so I had to move on, but they really are wonderful.  BETTER YET...e.l.f. has a sale going on right now!  If you spend $25 at eyeslipsface.com, you can get an 11 piece Studio Brush Collection for $3.00!!! So go check it out!!!

I hope that you all enjoyed my video!  If you have any questions about brushes or anything else, please comment on this blog and I would be sooooo happy to help you!!

Thanks everyone!!!

TAG...YOU'RE IT!!!

Hey everyone!!! So I wanted to do something a little different this week and figured that I would have a TAG as one of my posts!  I have been tagged by the incredible Sd. Glitter (check out her original tag post)!!! I am so excited to answer these questions this because it is my very first tag!!!

Lets get going!!!

Here are Sd. Glitter's questions and my answers :

1) Whats the one beauty product you cant live without?
This is a hard one!  I would have to say mascara.  Usually, if I want to let my skin breathe for a weekend, I still have to use something (well...I don't have to...but I do lol)!  So any type of black mascara, and I'm good to go!

2) A gadget you are addicted to.

My iPhone 4s!  I always said I didn't need one, and that I'm good with a droid, but I love it soo much better!!! Without it, i wouldn't be able to keep up with all my HelloMissNiki stuff!  Plus, I get Siri and I always love to mess around with her....I mean IT!!!

3) 3 favorite lip colors

This is an easy one!!! Rimmel Moisture Renew Lip Stick in Vintage Pink, Rimmel Kate Moss Collection in 001 and Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Red Velvet (see my full review on this product!!)

4) Your favorite beauty trend.

Turquoise or teal eyeshadows!!!  I love the look, but I'm guilty of not wearing it as much as I would like!  My goal is to change it up and wear some fun/bright colors for the spring!!! Lets see if I stick to it!!!

5) What camera you use?

Right now I just use the camera on my iPhone 4s because I cannot figure out the settings on my Nikon point and shoot!  I am great with computers, cell phones and all other forms of technology, but give me a camera and I can't figure it out for the life of me!  Thank God I have my photographer sister!!! Check out some of her work!!  She is incredible!!! (One Thousand Words Facebook Page / Kristina Traficante Flickr Photostream)

6) One celebrity whose fashion style you follow/like

I am obsessed with what Sofia Vergara is wearing.  Every awards show, she looks so beautiful, classy and all around AMAZING!!! I'm always so eager to see what she is wearing next!!!

7) Favorite day of the week.

Saturday!!!  Dare I include an explanation???

8) What nail color are you wearing right now?

Nicole by O.P.I. in Khloe Had A Little Lam-Lam from the Kardashian Collection

9) Which makeup remover you use currently?

I LOVE the Neutrogena Make-Up Remover Cleansing Towelettes!!!  They take off ALL my make up with one wipe and my skin feels so fresh afterwards!  I do cleanse my skin afterwards, but if I'm feeling lazy, just using this product is good enough for me!!

10) Your comfort food.

At the moment, Haagen-Dazs Salty Carmel Truffle Ice Cream!!! I have some waiting in my freezer for me!  I'll be completely honest...I may eat the entire pink....I'm just sayin'...

**UPDATE - I did...

11) The product you are craving for.

MAKE-UP GEEK EYESHADOWS!!!!! I keep seeing pictures in the idea gallery from members of the site and most of them have been using these shadows!  They are sooo pigmented and they have such a beautiful color selection!  Check out this look I am dying to try by Starryskies214 (oh...and check out her amazing blog The Beautiful Life of the Girl Next Door).

** UPDATE **

I have also been tagged by the beautiful Maria with All Things Beauty!  I wanted to have more fun and answer her questions as well!!! Thanks for the tag sweetie!!!

1) At what age did you start wearing makeup?

I think I was about 12 or 13.  All I remember is that I was in the 7th grade and my mom took me to a drugstore and bought me all my make-up!

2) What was the hardest makeup technique for you to perfect?

Was and still is liquid liner.  For the life of me, I cannot get it perfect!  I don't get discouraged though!  I just keep practicing.
3) What is your biggest fear?

Fire!  Everything about it!  I can sit through a gorey movie, but if someone is on fire, I get all anxious and have to close my eyes!  Doesn't help that my husband is a firefighter!

4) Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I just want to be happy and successful.  So far, I think I am on the right track.  I don't have any goals specifically, I just want to be happy :)

5) Favorite nail polish?

Short & Sassy by China Glaze!  My favorite color is red and this shade is perfect!  I wore it around the holidays!  Its just beautiful!!

6) Favorite thing to do on a Friday night.

Going out for a late dinner with my husband!  He works a lot and there are some weeks that I don't really get to see him, so I love our Friday date nights!

7) Favorite concealer?

NYX HD Photogenic Concealer.  I love how smooth its applied and how much it covers!  Anything by NYX is amazing, so are you surprised??

8) Who's your celebrity crush?

Johnny Depp will be my crush FOREVER!  I have adored him since I was in middle school and will love him forever LOL

9) Whats one product you regret buying?

I honestly don't know.  I don't think I ever regreted buying cosmetics, but I have regretted hair products.  I think I bought some sort of high end curling shampoo and conditioner and in the end, I liked my Pantene curling products better.

10) Whats one product you cant live without?

I mentioned this in the last tag and that is mascara.  Even when I have those days where I go out with no make-up, I usually still apply mascara just for that extra "umph."

11) Heels or flats?

HEELS!!! All the way!!!  The only thing that sucks about heels is that I'm 5'10 as it is and if I wear high heels, I'm usually 6'1.  This question is funny because I love my heels, but today I'm wearing flats!!!
So now...I will tag 11 other lovely ladies and ask them 11 questions.  Can't wait to see some of your answers!!!

RULES:

  • You must post these rules
  • Each person must post 11 things about themselves on their blog
  • Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post and create 11 new questions for the people you tag to answer.
  • You have to choose 11 people to tag and link them on the post.
  • Go to their page and tell them you have linked him or her.
  • No tag backs.
  • No stuff in the tagging section about 'you are tagged if you are reading this'. You legitimately have to tag 11 people.
1)  What make-up brush is a must have in your collection?

2)  What is your favorite color to wear on your nails?

3)  What was it that got you into make-up?

4)  Addicted to The Hunger Games?? ((I had to ask a Hunger Games question LOL))

5)  What make-up trend can you live without?

6)  What is your favorite season and why?

7)  Are you a professional make-up artist or self taught?

8)  Who is your #1 inspiration and why?  (Can be family, celebrity, etc.)

9)  Must have cosmetic brand?

10)  Who are your top 3 Favorite Beauty Bloggers?

11)  Favorite Drugstore Product?

To these lovely beauty bloggers...TAG...YOU'RE IT!!!

Please check out some of these other amazing beauty bloggers!!!  All of these bloggers are the reason why I love to do what I do so much!!!

To my readers, feel free to contribute to this post and comment with some of your own answers to the questions I asked or have been asked by Sd. Glitter!! I'd love to hear what you all have to say =D
