Best / Worst Drugstore Products of 2012

I shop at more drugstores on a regular basis than I do Ulta, Sephora or any other department store. Some drugstore products can be even better than high end products and in the end, why spend the extra money? I found this tag on Make Up, Beauty, Shopping Blog and I simply had to partake! This tag is a lot of fun and it was cool to have reflected on the best and worst drugstore products of 2012. Let’s jump into this, shall we? ENJOY!!!
1. What was your favorite drugstore makeup brand of 2012?
I would have to say that Rimmel London and Wet n’ Wild are on the top of my list. I have always loved Rimmel mascaras, but I have tried their liquid foundation this past year and it’s become my go to product! Their Clean Finish Foundation gives me amazing coverage and I just love how it makes my skin look.
Wet n’ Wild is a shocker for me. I have always liked Wet n’ Wild, but this year I fell in love with their new products! I reviewed several Wet n’ Wild products this past year and had nothing but positive things to say about them!
Check out my reviews on the following Wet n’ Wild products:
2. What are your least favourite products of 2012?
Loreal Infallible Eyeshadow. I bought two of them and just don’t use them. The one shade I have, I believe in Midnight Blue, is actually kind of pretty, but I bought Iced Latte Recently and it is just terrible! It was chalky and not pigmented and I was just not happy with the purchase. I am sure I have more products that I didn’t love this year, but this shadow comes to mind off the bat!
3. What is the best makeup bargain of 2012?
The best make up bargain of the year has to be MUA Cosmetics! They do not sell this brand here in the US, but I was able to purchase items directly from the MUA website. I was able to do two separate hauls and spent way under $100! Prices start from £1 and I simply couldn’t resist!

4. Show your best drugstore dupe for 2012.
My favourite drugstore dupe for 2012 has to be the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains. I actually prefer them to the Clinique Chubby Sticks. I have only tried one Chubby Stick before, but it sort of felt like a crayon. The shade was gorgeous, but the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains smelled amazing and I loved the colors even more!

5. Which drugstore product did you buy in 2012 that wasn’t worth the hype?
I am going to be a tad general here and say BB Cream. I don’t have a specific product because I tried, I think, two different creams from two different brands. I just didn’t see the appeal. Not sure what it was and I don’t have an explanation, I just didn’t understand all the hype…it just wasn’t for me.
 6. What product wins your award for Best Drugstore Product of 2012?
I feel like this is a similar question to #1, but I actually have a brand that tops them all!
And the winner is…NYX COSMETICS!!!
I don’t know if this is considered “drugstore”, but it is sold in beauty supply stores at a reasonable price, so I am going to put it in that category for today! I have been in love with NYX Cosmetics this past year and simply cannot get enough! Besides the prices being extremely reasonable, the quality is absolutely fabulous!
Check out my reviews on the following NYX Cosmetics products:
Well that’s it for my Best / Worst Drugstore Products of 2012!
I am usually to lazy to tag people in posts like this, so if you want to do this, please feel free to do so! Also, if you complete it, share it with me in the comments! I would love to see what you had to say!
What are some of your best and worst
drugstore products for 2012?
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

  1. I also adore Infallible! I thoroughly enjoyed this review, I worked for many cosmetic lines as a professional artist for years, being with Bobbi Brown the longest. (6 years now with Bobbi!) I must say that while there are obvious perks to consistently working with luxury line products, it really shows you what’s worthy of breaking the bank vs. what is more than crucial to pick up from your local drug store. Happy New Year! <3 Emily

  2. I agree with all of your choices! I was never impressed with the L’Oreal Infallible shadows so I’m glad I’m not the only one :)

  3. woohoo MUA hauls. I was so excited when they did the free shipping offer. I’m a big fan of NYX as well. I’m pretty partial to their cream blushes. I should probably get off my bum and review a couple at some point.

American BB creams really aren’t worth the hype but I love a few of the Korean brands.

  4. I couldn’t agree more with you about the BB creams & NYX. I still cannot figure out why people love BBs so much. NYX has some great quality stuff. Have you tried their HD foundation? It’s a dupe for MUFE HD!

  6. these are all great answers i agree with everything! i have never tried the loreal eyeshadows because to me they seemed over rated for what they cost (here in australia they are around $20 each) and i have recently started buying the NYX individual eye shadows im am the biggest fan of their trio’s thanks for sharing niki :)
