My Favorite Hair Products

Yesterday, I proclaimed this week Hair Week for Hello Miss Niki!  I wanted to do something a bit different and share what products and tools I use, along with some new reviews of items I have never tried before.

I have been bound to the same hair products for years!  I love all my products , as I would not have stuck with them this long if I didn't think they worked for me.  The best part...they are all (except for one) from the drugstore!

This spray is my unsung hero of my hair products.  I absolutely love using this and truly see a difference in my hair.  However...my one issue...I ALWAYS forget to use it!!!  A key rule (that I forget to follow) is that it is important to keep your hair protected.  This product guards your hair against heat and creates a beautiful shine that lasts. I think it is perfect for all hair textures and works against any hair tool that requires heat (which is most I suppose).

This has been my favorite hair spray for so many years!  My thick curly hair needs a strong hold, but still subtle enough to give my hair movement.  This product provides me with flexible control of my hair.  I use this once my curly hair is dry and I'm ready to go.  My hair rarely frizzes with this spray and it even stands against the rain!

What is my natural hair color you may ask??? I really don't know!  I have colored my hair so many times since I was in middle school and I don't think I can ever get it back to what I was born with.  That certainly doesn't bother me, because I love changing my hair color since I tend to get bored.  When I went dark in the beginning of 2011, I noticed that my hair color faded rather quickly.  Since I have always been a Pantene fan, I figured I would try their color protecting shampoo and conditioner.  I feel like this duo keeps my hair looking shiny and strong and it certainly helps my color treated hair last longer.

Yes...I use all three...AT ONE TIME!  Again, my hair is so thick, curly and prone to major frizzing that I need all I can get!  Thank goodness I use drugstore hair products because I would certainly be breaking the bank if I needed all high end stuff!  I have a hair ritual...a very interesting one to say the least, which I will share at the end of this post.  The Enhancing Spray Gel is great for easy distribution throughout the hair, the shaping gel gives it a big curl, frizz taming boost and the mousse helps leave my curls soft, while providing an extra EXTRA hold in addition too all of these products.  The best part is it does not leave my hair too stiff and my curls are always bouncy!

Okay...don't laugh...I use this in addition to the TRESemme Hair Spray.  I know...I'm crazy.  This hair spray is great to use BEFORE I use the main hair spray.  It creates a dynamic hold even when my hair is still damp.

This product is not apart of my curly hair ritual!  I use this one after I towel dry my hair before I want to straighten it.  Not only does it detangle my hair, but it makes it feel soft and healthy.  This is a light weight formula that conditions my hair and leaves a beautiful shine!

This is another product that is not for everyday use.  I only use this the morning after I straighten my hair, so it promotes shine and avoids making my hair look dry.  It has a non-greasy finish, but I only use it for the first day because after that, I don't want my hair to have a greasy appearance.  When my hair is straight I will probably wash it every other day, so I need to make sure it stays looking clean.

I have been using this product for well over 6 years now!  It is a must have in my house!  I know this product says its a straightener, but I actually use it while my hair is curly.  I don't like using a lot of product while my hair is straight, but if I feel my hair needs some extra conditioning, I will be sure to use this around the ends.  It stops my hair from frizzing after towel drying and sometimes if I just want to air dry and go to bed, this stuff is great for not making my hair feel out of control.  The best part, it acts as a heat protector, so when I forget to use my TRESemme Heat Tamer Spray, its a good alternative.  This is probably the most expensive product in my collection, but it is worth the $15.00.

I couldn't take a photo of this product because I used it up already.  I absolutely LOVE this stuff!  I read about this product on another blog, and I apologize, but I cannot remember who posted it!  I wish I did because I want to thank them for introducing me to this hair conditioning treatment.  Due to all the hair products and hot tools that I use, my hair tends to get very dry.  After using this thick, devine smelling treatment, my hair feels very fresh and healthy!  I just love it and this reminds me...I need to get more!

My Ritual

I mentioned throughout this blog, that when my hair is curly, I have a routine that I follow in order to get my desired look.  Yes, it takes a lot of hair products, but it is so worth it once my hair is finished and I'm ready to go.

1) I wash with the Pantene Shampoo & Conditioner

2) Once I am finished with my shower, I use a pick for my hair to get out all of the knots

3) I take the Bed Head Frizz Serum and scrunch my hair with it

4) Towel dry my hair

5) Use a little more anti frizz serum and then wrap my head in the towel

6) Use the Pantene Gel Spray

7) Followed with the Pantene Styling Gel

8) Followed with the Pantene Mousse

9) Diffuse my hair until mostly dry

10) Use the Pantene Anti Humidity Spray then pin the front of my hair back to let it dry and set

11) Before I leave the house, I take out the clip and spray my hair with TRESemme Tres Two Hold

I am sure that there are others with a crazy routine like me, but its amazing how many products I use to get my hair looking just right.  Stay tuned and I will show you what tools and brushes I use to accomplish my overall look!

What are your favorite hair products?

  1. I think, I think you like Pantene a bit, no? hahaha I used to love Pantene until it got reformulated several years ago. I only used this brand when I was a teen (so so so long ago! LOL) and my hair was the best. Then they changed the formula and it was never the same for me. I do like their Ice Shine Spray. ^^ xx

  8. Thanks for your suggestions! I don't much like Pantene for my curly hair, it's not very moisturizing, I use pro naturals moroccan argan oil products instead. I do want to try fructis though!

  10. I have used the Pantene Detangler spray and it was really nice. I can't normally use Pantene because my hair falls out when I use it.I know that's weird but it only happens with their shampoo and conditioners :/

I also have used the tresemme masque and I really liked it. The smell was even pleasant.I just finished mine up also heh.

    Love your blog!
