I don't know why I always procrasinate reviewing the Glossybox. I absolutely love it, yet I keep pushing it back. I mentioned in my Glossybox - May 2012 Review that I really enjoy receiving this box; and although I thought $21 a month was a bit steep, for the products you get, its really is worth it in the end. Unlike the Beauty Army Kit, you do not have the opportunity to choose your samples, but that is fine. Its kind of nice to have an element of surprise when I open the box.
Again, this month I received 5 deluxe size samples of products I have not tried before. I was very pleased with the variety of products and even more pleased to see that I got the July Edition of Glossy Mag. In this small magazine, Glossybox subscribers got a peek at this summer's hottest beauty trends, tips and some great advice from the experts. I loved receiving this little booklet and hope its something that I get every month.
Here are the products I recieved this month (please note that products shown are not to scale).
Beauty Addicts Show-Off Mascara
Full Size Retail Value: $20.00
I was super excited when I saw this because not only was this a full sized item, but I am a mascara freak! I love trying different brands, both high and low end, and I was even more excited to see that the retail value for this product was $20 alone! The applicator of this mascara is pretty unique as it is curved to hug your eyelashes and coat them evenly. I thought that this mascara made my lashes look really thick and full. My only issue with it is I felt like it was a bit clumpy. It's one of those mascaras that are very thick and clumpy at first but with a few uses it gets better. I know that it sounds really strange, but I had that issue with Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara years ago. When I first tried it, I was disappointed, but after awhile it got better, not as clumpy and I loved it. Have any of you experienced that before? Here are before and after photos of my eye:
Without Mascara
With Mascara
My advice is just really wipe the excess mascara off the brush before applying it or you will be unhappy. Either way, I was pleased with this product and happy that it was in this month's box.
I have really thick hair that can be very dry! If I go curly, I use alot of product and dry with a diffuser, and if I go straight, I flat iron the hell out of it. There is always that one product that I forget to use during my routine, and that is a heat protectant. Not sure why I dismiss it, but I can have it on my desk ready to go and I will still neglect to use it. Because of this, I have to do alot of intense conditioning treatments because my hair gets damaged. Before seeing the retail value of this product, I made the assumption that it is comparable to any other conditioning treatment and didn't need a high end product to hydrate my hair. It made my hair feel very soft and healthy and believed that it can be compared to drugstore brand conditioner. When I saw that it was in fact only $12, I figured it was quite reasonable and I would purchase it myself next time. I hope I am making sense...I feel a tad scatterbrained today! Unfortunately, I only was able to get two uses out of the sample size that I got because it takes a lot to distribute throughout my thick hair. Bottom line...I feel like I am rambling about this product so lets just keep it as I liked it :)
First Aid Beauty Smooth Shave Cream
Full Size Retail Value: $16.50
I don't know if I can say I was overly impressed with this shaving cream. I like using heavy shaving creams or gels and this felt a bit like a lotion. It did make my legs feel very smooth and silky, but I felt it was no different than the result that I get from my Target brand shaving cream. Don't get me wrong, I liked it, but I was expecting alot more for the retailed price. It is nice to have because it is a deluxe sample size and perfect for travel. (I will keep this one short and sweet!)
Kinerase Restructure Firming Cream
Full Size Retail Value: $98.00
I admit it, I didn't try this product. I think I misunderstood the purpose of this product and didn't feel the need to try it. I thought it was a firming cream for cellulite, but turns out its more or less an anti-aging moisturizer. I will try this product eventually. Because I really have nothing much to tell you, here are a few reviews I found on Amazon:
"I love this product! I saw immediate results and was amazed how well it worked. It really does restructure your skin by improving texture and increasing firmness. Its expensive but worth the cost. The only drawbacks were my skin seemed more sensitive to the cold (it had some redness after being in the wind) and I had a slight increase in isolated acne breakouts although that may have been caused by other factors." J. DeRosa
"I like the fact that this cream uses shea butter as an oil base instead of petrolatum and does not contain parabens. It also has promising potent ingredients like SNAP8 and kinetin. It absorbes well and does not leave a greasy residue. If you have extremely dry skin, this cream may not give you enough protection against moisture loss, but it is ideal for someone with a combination skin type. Because I have painfully sensitive skin, most of the brand product with potent ingredients give me some sort of side effects like burning feelig or Ahi tuna look. But this product really worked fine. So..all in all, I am pretty satisfied." C. Lover

Shea Terra Organics Ultimate Moisturizing Body Creame in Cape Lavendar
Retail Value: $18.00
Perfume Organic in Urban Organic
Retail Value: $65.00
I have mentioned this before that I am not a huge fan of receiving perfume samples in my beauty boxes. I have one or two perfumes that I have used long term and its rare I veer away from them. I can't be too disappointed as this was just a little special gift from Glossybox. I did however throw this item away (I'M SORRY GLOSSYBOX!!!!) I wasn't a huge fan of this item. It has a strong scent of lemon, bourbon, lime, basil, ginger, lavender, grapefruit and vetiver (whatever that is). It's description made it sound quite nice, but it was a bit too much for my taste. It reminded me of PineSol...SORRY AGAIN!!!
So there you have it. I liked the products that I got, but in some cases I wasn't overly impressed. I liked last month's box better but just because I wasn't too taken away by this month's products, it certainly does not mean I am giving up. I really love my Glossybox and will be sticking with it!
Do you get the Glossybox?
Do you get any beauty boxes?
If so, which ones? If not, do you want to try a beauty box?

I agree $21 is a bit much for boxes like these but you did get great goodies and it looks like you got really good sizes. Thanks for sharing.

I don't have a Glossy Box subscription, and think I might keep it that way for a bit. I would love a subscription service that offers more cosmetics, but that's just me. Looks like they give you substantial sizes, so that's awesome. I do get a monthly Glam Bag, and this month I'm pretty thrilled with that! (Full size nail polish, high grade spf moisturizer, lip and cheek stain, deep conditioning hair treatment.. keeping it going for now... :-) It's so much fun to get these monthly treats!! Have a great day, Niki!!

i did! glossybox never lets me down :)
DeleteAlthough the Canadian Glossy Box is $15 a month and we get 5-6 products per box, we tend to get drug store quality products. Sure they are full size but somehow it doesn't seem as nice as the US box or the UK box. I think your box is a good one! Thanks for sharing!
